For each canopy sold from 1st May 2009, Inside2Outside have pledged a donation to the Orangutan Foundation to help them continue their conservation work in the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra – the natural habitat of the Orangutan. Inside2Outside made the decision to support the Foundation after they realised how badly the natural habitat of this majestic of apes – the rainforests – are being destroyed in the name of commerce. As I2O are known as the “Canopy People” tprimarily because of their Pocca canopies for schools, it seemed fitting to help an animal that lives in forest canopies.

The Orangutan Foundation, which will be celebrating its 20th anniversary next year, was chosen because it not only preserves the wild populations of orangutans in their natural habitat but also takes care of sick and orphaned orangutans through rehabilitation programmes. The Foundation also supports scientific research and work with a network of partner organisations, both locally and internationally (one partner is Yayorin, www.yayorin.org)
Like Inside2Outside, the Orangutan Foundation has strong links with education, believing that today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders and that this is the key to the survival of the rainforests and Orangutans. By working together we hope to spread the word of the Orangutans’ plight and help raise much needed funds for the Foundation’s work to continue.
Inside2Outside have also adopted an Orangutan called Violet, who will be introduced in the Company’s next Newsletter. Violet was less than a year old when her mother was killed. She was found chained to a chicken shed in central Indonesian Borneo. Her “owners” kept her as a pet, she was scared, infested with parasites and suffering from anaemia and amoebic dysentery, she was rescued just in time.

Inside2Outside will also be bringing news of the Orangutan Awareness week in the newsletter, which is in November and for which the company is calling on for your support.
For almost a decade, Inside2Outside has proactively taken steps towards reducing it’s carbon footprint. Having commitment and setting key responsibilities from Board Level downwards is key to ensuring that they continue to reduce their environmental impact by adopting best environmental practices and business procedures.
More information will be on the Inside2Outside website shortlyin a special Orangutan Foundation page. For further information on Inside2Outside contact Vanessa Reed on:
